Dreamland Confectionery is a story-driven 3D adventure and baking game about a young adult named Ami who is whisked away to a fantasy world from her childhood where she is preparing to celebrate her birthday with her friends and magical creatures. However, a dark force is hiding in the shadows that may put Ami and Dreamland in jeopardy.
We focused on making the world of Oceanos (the titular Dreamland) a lively and bright fantasy world inhabited by cute, charming creatures that a child could create in their imagination and thus be welcoming for Ami. We also wanted the world to have felt lived in by Ami in her childhood so there are traces of Ami's childhood activities that she shared with her friends in Oceanos. An example would be the paintings and her and Alati and art supplies found in one section of the level.
This game was created for the USC Games Directed Research class and presented at the USC Games Expo 2021 and at the USC Games Expo 2022 as part of the Spotlight Games block. A demo is currently released on Steam.
