Beasts of Maravilla Island

Usability Researcher

August 2019 - May 2020

I worked on the usability team for this game 2019-2020. My main responsibilities consisted of conducting user research, running playtests for the game, and doing QA. The usability team focused on optimizing the game for accessibility and achieving a balance between creating puzzles and a clear progression path while still giving the player room to explore an open environment.

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a 3D adventure game about a girl named Marina who explores a magical island to discover and photograph  the fantastical creatures she encounters there.

This game was created for the Advanced Game Project capstone class at USC during the school year of 2019-2020. At the end of the school year, we showcased the completed first level of the game at the USC Games Expo 2020.

The game is officially released on Nintendo Switch, Steam, Itch, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store.
