Beasts of Maravilla Island

Usability Researcher

August 2019 - May 2020

I worked on the usability team for this game 2019-2020. My main responsibilities consisted of conducting user research, running playtests for the game, and doing QA. The usability team focused on optimizing the game for accessibility and achieving a balance between creating puzzles and a clear progression path while still giving the player room to explore an open environment.

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a 3D adventure game about a girl named Marina who explores a magical island to discover and photograph  the fantastical creatures she encounters there.

​

This game was created for the Advanced Game Project capstone class at USC during the school year of 2019-2020. At the end of the school year, we showcased the completed first level of the game at the USC Games Expo 2020.

​

The game is officially released on Nintendo Switch, Steam, Itch, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store.
